Exercise of the Week: The Washer Machine

Hey folks!  Here is this weeks exercise of the week.  This week we are doing the Washer/Washing Machine…what you call it depends on where you are from….here in the Appalachians we call it a washer machine.  In order to do the washer machine, you need to use a medicine ball, and we are using our toy of the month, the Dynamax ball.  So have fun, be safe and let this exercise help you get fit!  Below are the links for the video and a link to buy the Dynamax ball if you do not have one!

    Should the feet stay planted ? or should a pivot occur which allows the rotation to continue through the hips and torso?

    • Great question. You can perform the exercise either way. If you are looking for a full body exercise you can pivot the foot and rotate through the hips and torso. If you want to work on hip and core stability, you can plant both feet and rotate through the thoracic spine and a little through the lumbar spine. The big key here is to not rotate too much through the lumbar spine.
